March 28, 2021 : Palm Sunday that marks the arrival of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem, where his disciples gave him a warm welcome by waving palm leaves, was celebrated with utmost piety and devotion at Our Lady of Perpetual Succor Church on March 28th, 2021 Through this Palm Sunday we begin the Holy Week of the Liturgical calendar. The devotees marched in a procession carrying palm leaves which were earlier blessed by Rev. Denis D’Souza, Parish Priest, near the Mother Mary grotto. On reaching the church, the passion of the Lord was read devotedly. Thereafter, Fr. Denis briefed the significance of sufferings of Jesus in the salvation history.
Palm Sunday is also known as the Passion Sunday. The Palm Sunday is celebrated in two parts. In the first part of the service, we remember the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem acclaimed by all the people. The procession started from Bethany, the village of Lazarus, Martha and Mary, and ended in the Temple of Jerusalem. During the second part of the service in the church, the people read and reflect the passion and death of Jesus.
