On Saturday, 15th April 2017 the solemn Easter Vigil marking the feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Jesus Christ was observed at Our Lady of Perpetual Succor Church, Nirmalapadav at 7 p.m. followed by the solemn Easter Mass.
Rev. Fr Ronald D’Souza, Codial bail Press Director, Mangalore Diocese as the chief celebrant conducted the Easter Vigil and offered the solemn feast mass along with Rev. Fr Vincent Lobo, Parish Priest, Nirmalapadav.
The Easter Vigil was divided into four parts: Service of Light, Liturgy of the Word, Liturgy of Baptism, and Liturgy of the Eucharist. The service began outside the church premises. With the blessing of the new fire, blessed by the chief celebrant Rev. Fr Ronald D’Souza. The ‘Paschal Candle’ was lit and was carried inside the church followed by the faithful with the Easter hymns.
During the Easter vigil, three readings from the Old Testament and two from the new testaments followed by the Gospel from New Testament were read. Rev. Fr Ronald D’Souza, main celebrant in his homily highlighted the significance of Easter and the risen Christ.
Following the homily, the Easter water was blessed, the faithful lit their candles as the Baptismal promises were renewed and the faithful were sprinkled with the newly blessed water.
At the end of the solemn Easter Mass, Fr Vincent Lobo, Parish Priest, extended the greetings of Easter to all and invoked the blessings of the Risen Christ on all the parishioners. He also thanked each and every one who had helped in the smooth conduct of all the services during the Holy week.
The choir enhanced the solemnity of the Easter Vigil by singing melodious hymns. The attendance of the gathering was 106 females and 81 males in numbers. The Parishioners after the mass extended the Easter wishes with each other. Refreshments were also served for the gathering.
Meanwhile, the Easter Vigil is the most important service of public worship and Mass of the liturgical year.
