April 9, 2017: Palm Sunday is also Known as Passion Sunday, launching the sacred ’Holy Week’ for Christians here as in all parts of the Globe. Palm Sunday is the final Sunday in the Lenten season, signifying the beginning of Holy Week.
Sunday 9th April 2017, in Our Lady of Perpetual Succor Church, Nirmalapadav, parishioners gathered together holding coconut palms near the grotto of Mother Mary, at 8 a.m. Rev. Fr Vincent Lobo, Parish Priest intoned special prayers and blessed the palms held in the hands of the faithful with incense and holy water. Then a procession made it’s way into the church with singing of hymns and the solemn Holy mass was celebrated.
Rev. Fr Vincent Lobo celebrated the holy mass. Over 150 faithful gathered in this holy ceremony of Holy Palm Sunday.
The Holy Week or Great Week that has commenced today which will peak on Easter Sunday will be marked solemnly in all Christian churches the world over.
